CPI(ML)-New Democracy Strongly Condemns Killings of CPI(Maoist) Cadres and Tribal People in Gadchiroli

Central Committee of CPI(ML)-New Democracy strongly condemns killing of cadres of CPI(ML)-Maoist and tribal people in Gadchiroli district in Maharashtra on April 22 & 23, 2018. Central and State Govts. are resorting to brutal tactics to suppress the struggle of tribal people in Dandakarnya region under the leadership of communist revolutionaries. These killings reflect the repression let loose by the ruling classes against the people’s struggles particularly against the struggles led by communist revolutionaries.

Killing of the injured and unarmed tribals in the name of ‘éncounter’ with CPI(Maoist) cadres has become a routine template of the security forces in their all out war against the people in these regions. It is part of their efforts to take control of the mineral rich region through physically eliminating the communist revolutionaries and rendering tribals leaderless and helpless and thereby incapable to resist the onslaught of the ruling classes, foreign and domestic corporate. In these attacks the security forces keep no regard of the democratic rights of the people. They do not respect even the laws of war though they themselves claim to be at war with CPI (Maoist).

Killing of unarmed tribals in cold blooded murders is not accidental but a deliberate act to terrorize the tribals who are also arrested on trumped up charges and incarcerated in jails for long periods of time.… Read More

Organize May Day Meetings on the occasion of Bi-centenary birth anniversary of Karl Marx

                             INTENSIFY WORKING CLASS STRUGGLES

Three years before the events that took place in 1886 in Chicago leading to the May Day, one of the worlds greatest teachers of the working class, one who said that the source of capitalist profit was the surplus value produced by the unpaid labour of the workers, one who propounded the theory of the class struggle as motive force of social change and underlined the historic role of the working class as the builder of socialism passed away in London on 14th March,1883. “On 14th March, at quarter to three in the afternoon, the greatest living thinker ceased to think. He had been left alone for scarcely two minutes and when we came back we found him in armchair, peacefully gone to sleep, but forever.” This was Engels, his close associate, speaking at the grave of the revolutionary thinker, Karl Marx on 17th March. He further stated that “His name will endure through the ages and so also his work.” This statement by Engels on the death of Marx was made in London some 135 years ago and the subsequent years to the present prove the correctness of that statement. Marx and his works have indeed endured the ages.

Condemn Missile Attack by US and its allies on Syria

To insert itself as a military player in the war in Syria and to reassure its clients in the Arab world post the failure of its regime change operations in Syria, US imperialism along with UK and France fired over a hundred missiles targeting three sites in Syria. One was near capital Damascus and two were near the city of Homs. Many of these missiles were intercepted by Syrian Army, particularly those fired at the site near Damascus while others hit empty targets.

These air strikes on April 14 morning are blatant violations of sovereignty and territorial integrity of a UN member country. These air strikes are in utter disregard of international law and without approval of the United Nations. These air strikes were avowedly a reaction to the alleged use of chemical weapons by Assad regime in Douma in Eastern Ghouta. But these strikes were precisely timed before a team of Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) is scheduled to start its work later in the day. US, UK and France claimed that they have “evidence” that Assad Govt. had used chemical weapons but did not disclose it. US White House claimed that they acted on the basis of reports in media and by intelligence agencies but they would not share it.… Read More

PMS Enquiry into Kathua Rape Case

A four member team of Pragatisheel Mahila Sangathan (Delhi)  visited Kathua District of Jammu region of J&K state on 18th and 19th of March 2018 in connection with the rape and murder of an 8 year old girl of the Bakkarwal tribe and the subsequent vicious communal propaganda unleashed there against the arrests of the alleged rapists and murderers. The team’s Report was released in Delhi on the 24th of March 2018. The team expressed its shock and grief at the fact that the rape and murder of an 8 year old girl child, late Asifa, of a nomadic community, instead of being condemned by all sections of society, has been turned into a rallying point on communal lines in defence of the accused persons. It unanimously condemned the same. It is pertinent to state that the accused persons were apprehended only after the sniffer dogs took the scent from the spot in the jungle where the body was found to the cowshed of Sanjhi Patwari, a retired revenue official who is  one of the accused.… Read More

Rise Against Supreme Court Judgment on the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act! Protest Against Repression on participants in April 2 Bharat Bandh!

On April 2 people belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes and those who oppose the discrimination and harassment, oppression and violence, rapes and murders against the scheduled castes and the scheduled tribes demonstrated throughout the country against the Supreme Court Judgment which virtually annulled The Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989. The Judgment is a blatant and cruel attack on these sections which suffer from crude oppression and atrocities at the hands of dominant upper castes. The Supreme Court Judges have gone against the very spirit of the Constitution and have given a judgment which will intensify the caste oppression, hatred and atrocities and also boost the morale of upper caste goons. The Attorney General has not bothered to attend the Court despite being asked to and the Govt. has represented before the Court that this Act is being widely misused. This is contrary to the harsh reality of an abysmal rate of convictions, low rate of filing of cases anyway, plethora of false cases under other sections filed by the upper castes and police in most cases of such atrocities against the Dalits and adivasis who are the victims and who dare to lodge complaints.… Read More

Caste Oppression CPI-ML New Democracy

Killing of protestors by police during Bharat Bandh strongly condemned

CPI(ML)-New Democracy strongly condemns the firing by police on the people, killing a number of them, protesting against Supreme Court order virtually doing away with The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Supreme Court issued this order despite rise in the number of murders, rapes, assaults and other atrocities being perpetrated against these sections and despite high pendency and very low conviction rate of the cases under the Act.

There have been countrywide protests against this Supreme Court order. People from different walks of life came out in protests. Rail and road traffic was blocked at a number of places and large rallies were organized by the people.

To crush these protests, Govt. took recourse to prohibitory orders, lathi-charged the people and fired live bullets on the protesters in which a number of them have been killed.

Today’s protests are against the growing atrocities against Dalits and other oppressed sections. Today’s protests are against the ruling class forces which are conspiring to finish off reservation from oppressed sections. Today’s protests are also against the conspiracy to impose upper caste chauvinist rule in the name of Hindutva by the ruling dispensation.

Protest against Supreme Court Order on Prevention of Atrocities Act

On 20th March 2018, a Supreme Court Bench of Justice AK Goel and Justice UU Lalit virtually annulled the provisions of The Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989. This blow to an Act meant to redress grievances of the victims of such atrocities should be seen in the light of rising cases of violence, harassment, rapes, assaults besides casteist harassment, victimization and slurs against the members of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. This ruling by the Supreme Court will only further embolden the sections which perpetrate such atrocities against members of these communities. It should be kept in mind that Dalit women bear the brunt of these atrocities with cases of rapes and assault being high in number. This same bench had earlier struck down immediate arrests in cases lodged by women under Section 498A IPC, and had used the very same argument of ‘misuse’ to support patriarchal violence.

The justice delivery system has already been biased against the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes as evidenced by extremely slow disposal of cases filed under the Act and very low rate of conviction. Over 90% of the cases filed are still pending while conviction rate in the cases filed is abysmally low (1.4% in case of Scheduled Castes and 0.8% in case of Scheduled Tribes).… Read More
