Barddhaman Blast – Beyond the mainstream narrative – Amit Chakraborty

It is interesting to note that chief minister of West Bengal in a public meeting on 24th october stated Barddhaman blast which occurred on 2nd October 2014 in Khagragarh could be a conspiracy hatched by Indian intelligence agency Research & Analysis wing( RAW). This statement created a furore among RSS-BJP leaders along with the parliamentary oppositions including mainstream lefts. Ms. Mamata Banerjee also said that she was in central government for 23 years and she knows how things happen!

Sarada scam has defamed Trinamool Government putting two of its MP’s into jail and at present CBI is putting pressure on Ms. Mamata Banerjee, this must have prompted her to put forward this sort of serious allegation . Shamik Bhattacharya, the newly elected BJP MLA from Basirhat stated that Ms. Mamata Banerjee is the only chief minister of India who has alleged RAW in this way and also criticized her sense of nationalism. Siddhartha Nath Singh, BJP leader also criticized her. Question may be raised why Ms. Banerjee who claims to be very honest tolerated this sort of conspiracy organized by RAW for last 23 years.

But whatever may be the intention of Ms. Banerjee this statement needs serious appraisal.… Read More

Modi Govt. Unleashes Anti-People Measures After Assembly Elections

Assembly elections in Maharashtra and Haryana have demonstrated continuing trend of collapse of Congress and decline of caste based regional parties resulting in BJP getting a majority in Haryana and emerging as the single largest party in Maharashtra. With little to separate the ruling class parties in terms of economic policies and on the issues affecting the common people, money power and support of corporate media became decisive in favour of BJP. BJP openly sold its tickets to highest bidders fielding a large number of super rich candidates. However, the hope with which BJP had snapped ties with Shiv Sena to form a single party govt. in a large state like Maharashtra has been belied and only an alliance can assume power which would not be difficult given the rank opportunism of ruling class parties.

In the months after May 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Modi Govt. has focused on showcasing its ‘achievements’ in foreign policy and ‘increasing’ India’s standing on global scene. What Modi Govt. has specifically done is to draw India deeper into US embrace. Tensions with neighbouring countries Pakistan and China have been escalated to justify this embrace in public opinion. Modi’s visit to Japan, Australian PM’s visit to India and Modi’s visit to USA have all been hailed as successes irrespective of the specific agreements forged or Indian interests secured while Chinese President’s visit was continuously bogged down in border tensions during the days of his visit.… Read More

Condemn Turkish Bombing of PKK; Support Kobane

Support Kurdish Struggle for their national aspirations
In the backdrop of declining power of US imperialism and rising anger of the people of West Asia, turmoil in the Middle-East intensifies. To divert the people’s struggles in Arab countries and to drown upswing in people’s struggles in sectarian bloodshed, imperialism and reactionaries have lifted a huge stone which is crushing their feet. There is widespread anger in the Arab countries against US led wars of aggression and US imperialism led expropriation of their natural resources.
US imperialism is back to bombing IS targets in Iraq and Syria with Arab monarchies in tow. Islamic State controls vast swathe of land in Iraq and Syria withstanding US led bombing campaign and is posing an existential threat to the Arab monarchies, particularly Saudi monarchy, a pillar of imperialist influence in the region. IS, a conglomerate of different forces particularly Salafi Islamists, Muslim Brotherhood and Bathists, is fighting several battles, directed against western imperialist powers and their cronies but also against minorities in the region.
This turmoil has given an opportunity to the long suppressed Kurdish nationality inhabiting several countries of the region. In Iraq, Kurdish autonomous region has resisted onslaught of IS. In Sinjar mountain while US trained Iraqi Army had abandoned them without even giving weapons to them for self-defence, it was PKK and its supporters in Syria and Iraq who had defended them.… Read More

Obama’s strategy up in the air

‘Barack the Bomber’

(New Democracy News)

On the 10th of September, US President Barack Obama declared war on Islamic State. The key points of the strategy he cooked up over a few days, having remarked earlier that he had no strategy, entail air strikes against IS positions in Iraq and building of an international coalition to “degrade and ultimately destroy” IS. Secretary Kerry has been scouting the Middle East to earn allies for this offensive. The visit has earned empty support complementing the hollow strategy of his President.

What has prompted Obama Admn. to embark on this course? He had famously remarked while backtracking on the decision to bomb Syria last year that he was not in the White House to unleash wars. Obama repeatedly announces that he would only take military action when threat to American security arises. Admittedly, there is no threat to American security from IS and this is vouchsafed by FBI, Department of Homeland Security and National Intelligence Alliance, a conglomerate of a myriad of intelligence agencies of USA. Obama in his address talked of threat to core interests and further amplified the same by talking of threat to US and its allies. It is clear from the address that the present US action is in defense of its allies.… Read More

West Bengal : Massive Rally Against US Aggressors

Thirteen political parties and organizations in West Bengal, including CPI(ML)-New Democracy, gave a call for a protest march to US Embassy on 19th December 2002 to oppose the US conspiracy to attack Iraq. Thousands of people from the province, with banners, posters and placards, gathered at the Subodh Mallik Square in Kolkata at 2 p.m. on that day and started marching towards the US Embassy raising slogans against the war campaign – “No to US Aggression on Iraq”, “Down with the universal terrorists, the Bush-Blair Clique”, “Not oil at the cost of blood, not war for oil” etc.

The marchers were, however, blocked at the US Information Centre in the city, way ahead of the destination, by the faithful dogs of the ‘Left’ Front Govt. of the state. And naturally so. Though at times resorting to anti-US imperialism rhetoric, the ‘Left’ Front was prompt in taking up the ‘immediate’ task of providing fool-proof protection and security to US imperialism and its official ‘control room’ in Kolkata, the US Embassy and deployed a huge police force for the purpose.… Read More

Delhi : Convention Against US Attack

The Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist)-New Democracy and its like minded organizations, the All India People’s Resistance Forum and the Revolutionary Unity Centre, Punjab, held an impressive protest-demonstration at Jalandhar on 30th January 2003 against US war-threats and aggression on Iraq. Before the commencement of protest demonstration, a mass meeting was held in Desh Bhagat Yadgar Hall Complex where speakers made seething attacks on US by saying that being the sole superpower in the world, US imperialism wishes to get license for forcing governments of its liking throughout the world by use of military might.

Calling upon the people to come forward against the war-designs and plots of US, the speakers asserted that aggression against Iraq will be naked violations of human rights, international law and the principles of UN itself. They stated that there is no danger of war against USA and no threat to world peace from Iraq. Rather US war-designs are clearly threatening world peace today.

Com. Ajmer Singh, a senior provincial leader of CPI(ML)-New Democracy, said US imperialism, in the name of “war against terrorism”, is playing the game of making weak countries submit before it. Com. Ajmer Singh alleged that Mr. Bush wishes to be a candidate for presidency next time by getting applause through such actions.… Read More
