Locking of Party Office and Arrest of Activists in Khammam by Police Condemned

CPI(ML)-New Democracy strongly condemns locking of the Party office by the police on May 12, 2018 in Khammam in Telengana. A meeting commemorating the martyrs of the revolutionary movement was scheduled to be held in the office. A number of activists including noted revolutionary poet and writer Varavara Rao and 25 others were arrested from the venue and the police put a lock on the gates of the Meeting Hall in the office.

CPI(ML)-New Democracy activists under the leadership of the Khammam Dist. Committee of the Party nevertheless held a meeting commemorating the martyrs of the revolutionary movement in the verandah of the office. Leaders and participants in this meeting denounced the police for locking the office and arresting the activists and termed it as an attack on the revolutionary movement and democratic rights by KCR led TRS Govt. in Telengana.  Later a procession was taken out against this undemocratic police action.

KCR Govt. has been targeting leaders and activists of CPI(ML)-New Democracy and is intensifying attacks against tribals in Telengana.
