West Champaran (Bihar) Murder of Com. Siraj Ansari by landlord gang

Com. Siraj Ansari, aged about 40 years, was murdered on February 8, 2017 at about 11 PM by a landlord gang in Katia Matia village in West Champaran district of Bihar. In this village struggle over 40 acres of land is continuing. Out of these nearly 22 acres of land has been captured by landless poor peasants. Com. Siraj was leading this struggle and had been a target of landlord goondas. There have been several attacks on Com. Siraj and other comrades. Attempts were also made to implicate him in false cases.

Struggles for land and against landlord oppression have sharpened in this area over last two years and landless poor peasants are resisting in landlord goonda violence. Many land struggles are continuing in Sikta and Majholia blocks of West Champaran district.

Com. Siraj was a member of Sikta Majholia Area Committee of CPI(ML)-New Democracy and has been working as a full time activist of the Party.

Over four hundred people participated in the funeral procession of Com. Siraj held today i.e. 9th February evening.

CPI(ML)-New Democracy pays its homage to the martyr comrade and vows to intensify peasant struggles against landlords and their goondas, to resist their attacks and to mobilize the peasants in large number in their struggles.
