26 August, Patiala: Zonal conference was held at local grain market by 8 parties. Speakers of all parties condemned the fascist offensives pursued by Modi government and attacking the very democratic, secular and federal structure of the country. On one side, Modi government is allowing the corporate houses to fleece the toiling people and on the other hand suppressing the common people by denying their democratic rights. They demanded the immediate withdrawal of three ordinances belongs to agriculture and electricity bill 2020.
Speakers also condemned the Punjab government who instead of improving the health facility and infrastructure in the Government Hospitals to strengthen the fight against corona pandemic, is just imposing section 144 and curfew and putting more burden on the toiling people and restricting their democratic process. The speakers expressed their determination to carry forward the struggle against fascist forces and anti-people economic policies of the Central and State Governments. After conference March was held in the city. Among the speakers who addressed the gathering is Nirmal Singh Dhaliwal of CPI, Darshan Singh Khatkar of CPI (M-L) New Democracy, Puran Chand of RMPI, Satwant Wazidpur of Lok Sangram Morcha, Advocate Labh Singh Bhangu of MCPI (U) and Narinder Nindi of Inqlabi Jamhoori Morcha.
On 25th August a big rally was organized in Jallandhar (Punjab). This was organized at Doaba regional level. Meeting following the Rally was addressed by leaders of participating organizations including Com. Ajmer Singh of CPI(ML)-New Democracy.
Front Against Fascist Offensive has called for organizing three zonal rallies. These two rallies were organized as part of this. Third will be organized at Moga on August 27, 2020. That demonstration and meeting is expected to be a large gathering defying the restrictions being imposed by the govt.
These rallies have been organized despite ban on meetings announced by Punjab’s Congress Govt. These meetings and rallies are in support of the demands formulated by the Front. These demands include unconditional and immediate release of all political prisoners including those arrested under Elgaar Parishad case and anti-CAA protesters framed for Northeast Delhi violence.
